Uked! The First Play-Along Ukulele Musical

Uked! the first play-along ukulele musical is the hilarious and poignant story of Karla, who is dumped on her 50th birthday by her violin-playing boyfriend, Brian.

Desperate to belong and prove her musical worth, Karla buys a ukulele and joins a dating site - learning that love and the ukulele have a lot in common.

Audience members can just sit back and enjoy the show, OR they can bring their uke and sing and play along with Karla. A screen will display all the chords and lyrics for the sing-along songs.

Those who have always wanted to tread the boards can register to be on stage playing Karla’s fellow club members.

Uked! stars folk singer and actress Josephine Birch as Karla.

Ian Stenlake, best known as the commanding officer in the TV series Sea Patrol and star of Mamma Mia! (Helpmann Award nominee) and most recently The 39 Steps at the Sydney Opera House, will play all of Karla's YouTube teachers and love interests.

First produced in Melbourne by playwright Jane Cafarella. She says: 

“I wrote the show for all the Karla’s out there, and to celebrate the humble ukulele’s ability to bring people together - and as an antidote to the daily misery of the news.”
